Control I

This course provides a comprehensive introduction to feedback control systems, focusing on the analysis and design of dynamic systems. Key topics include mathematical modeling of physical systems, transfer functions, system response for first- and second-order systems, and stability analysis using Routh-Hurwitz criterion. Students will study steady-state error, system performance metrics, and compensator design methods such as lead and lag compensators. Frequency-domain analysis is emphasized with Bode plots, gain and phase margins, and crossover frequencies. Practical applications are integrated through laboratory exercises and industry-standard computer-aided design tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink), equipping students with skills to design and analyze control systems for mechatronics and robotics applications. This course emphasizes both theoretical foundations and hands-on implementation to bridge the gap between theory and practice. Prerequisite(s): MA 340
