Advanced Analog Circuits

This course provides an in-depth study of analog amplifier theory and small-signal circuit analysis. Topics include small-signal models for BJT and FET amplifiers, midband gain, input and output impedances, frequency response, and Bode plot interpretation. Multistage amplifier configurations using direct, capacitive, and transformer coupling are analyzed, along with the effects of source and load interactions. Large-signal amplifier behavior is also examined, including efficiency, thermal considerations, distortion, amplifier operating classes, and push–pull configurations. Additional topics include operational amplifier applications, voltage regulators, and oscillator circuits such as Wien bridge, RC phase-shift, Hartley, Colpitts, Clapp, negative-resistance, and crystal oscillators. Students use simulation tools such as Multisim, LTSpice, and MATLAB/Simulink to model and evaluate amplifier and analog integrated circuit performance. Prerequisites: EL-150 and EL-200. (2-2-3)
