This course introduces students to the fundamentals of engineering design and computer-aided design (CAD) with a focus on real-world applications in mechatronics and robotics. Topics include product design, 3D modeling, and prototyping using advanced CAD tools. Students will work individually and in teams to design, simulate, and prototype functional and manufacturable products. Emphasis is placed on geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), assembly modeling, and the integration of material selection into the design process. Students will gain hands-on experience with CAD software and tools used in design validation, such as stress analysis and motion simulation, to prepare for careers in modern engineering fields.
