As a national society, oSTEM serves the LGBTQAIP community and functions to:
-
Provide services and support for students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
- Create a dynamic network between students and professionals in industry and academia.
-
Provide education, outreach, and professional resources to high school students.
- Actively recruit and address the needs of diverse groups within the LGBTQAIP community, inclusive of those who are historically underrepresented with regards to gender and ethnic background.
Why oSTEM?
Many students face the decision when searching for or beginning a new job whether to hide their LGBTQ identity or to be proud of themselves. oSTEM members work together to build the confidence and decorum budding professionals need to succeed in the workplace. oSTEM also works to make a connection between out professionals and students for mentoring, networking, and recruiting. That support from fellow professionals makes it easier for these young professionals to be themselves in the workplace and gives them the confidence to succeed.
