Academic Advising
Academic advising is an important part of your educational journey. Your advisor can help you:

- Develop a plan toward graduation
- Select courses that align with your academic goals
- Monitor academic progress
- Connect with campus resources and support services
- Navigate challenges that may impact academic success
Regular meetings with your advisor help ensure you remain on the most efficient path toward degree completion.
Understanding Your Academic Plan
Capitol Technology University utilizes J1 Web Academic Planning to help students plan and track their progress toward degree completion.
Through J1 Web Academic Planning, students can:
- View degree requirements
- Monitor completed and remaining coursework
- Create multi-semester academic plans
- Work collaboratively with their advisor
- Stay on track for graduation
Students are encouraged to review their academic plan regularly and update it as they progress through their program.
Course Registration
Before registering for classes each semester:
- Review your academic plan in J1 Web Academic Planning.
- Meet with your advisor if you have questions regarding course selection.
- Confirm that all prerequisite requirements have been met.
- Review the Online Registration Page for registration procedures and important deadlines.
- Register for courses through the MyCapitol Portal.
Early registration helps ensure access to the courses you need to stay on schedule.
Undergraduate Tutoring Services
The Student Success Center offers free tutoring services for current undergraduate students. Available options include both online and in-person tutoring appointments for a variety of subjects and courses. All online tutoring sessions are conducted via Zoom.
