Institutions of higher education must make available to current and prospective students information about institutional policies regarding vaccinations.  

Availability of Capitol Tech's Vaccination Policy

Capitol Technology University Vaccination Policy Revised 2/26/2016

New and continuing residential students will be asked to submit updated immunization forms to the Office of Residence Life.  The forms include emergency contacts and a medical history to inform medical personnel in case of an emergency. These forms and the meningitis waiver are available on the Residence Life tab of MyCapitol. 

  1. Residents born after 1956 must have 2 doses of measles vaccine and 1 dose of each Mumps and Rubella. This can be given as an MMR vaccination, which immunizes against all three diseases. Verified by a medical professional. 
  2. All residents should have had the tetanus/diphtheria immunization in the last 10 years.
  3. All residents must sign a meningitis waiver indicting that the student has received and reviewed information regarding this disease and has chose not to be vaccinated or provide verification from a medical professional that the resident has been vaccinated.

Residents requesting an exception to the required vaccinations above due to a medical condition or religious exemption will be required to provide documentation from a medical professional or appropriate religious figure.   Additionally, residents requesting an exemption will be required to submit a letter including the symptoms of the illnesses and the risks associated with contracting the disease.

All documents must be submitted prior to residential student check in to ensure housing eligibility. Documentation should be submitted to Residence Life by emailing scanned copies to residencelife@CapTechU.edu or mailing copies to Residence Life, Capitol Technology University, 11301 Springfield Rd., Laurel, MD 20708.
