COVID-19 Update Aries Matheos SchubertShow MyInfo popup for Aries Matheos Schubert 9/3/2020 4:39:23 PM

Dear Capitol Community,

We have recently learned that a member or members of the Capitol Tech campus community tested positive for COVID-19.  This member or members have been advised to follow the advice of health officials which include not to report to campus until they meet the requirements for return.

The Capitol Tech Infection Control and COVID-19 Care team has notified all close contacts as well as close contacts of close contacts of the community member or members of the requirement to quarantine until specific requirements are met for release from isolation or quarantine.

We are urging everyone in the Capitol Tech on-campus community to follow guidance from the CDC, the Maryland Department of Health, and the Prince George’s County Department of Health and Human Services on precautionary measures including hand washing, social distancing, mask wearing, and self-quarantine.

We are obligated to protect the privacy of all members of the Capitol Tech community.  As such, we are prevented from sharing any identifying information.

Capitol Tech is committed to following CDC Guidelines for sanitizing all areas with our already strict university COVID-19 cleaning guidelines.  We will continue to comply with prevailing health guidance and best practices regarding cleanliness and disinfection.

Please understand that we will continue to work diligently to identify each confirmed case of COVID-19 that comes onto our campus to be able to provide timely notices.  The University is committed to ongoing cleaning and following all recommended guidelines. We ask that everyone commit to taking the personal responsibility to do your part to help slow the spread.  Please wear your masks, maintain physical distancing, follow all university guidelines regarding COVID-19, and be mindful of those you come in contact with, as anyone could possibly transmit COVID-19 without being symptomatic.

We remain committed to protecting the campus community and providing support for all of our students, faculty, and staff while still operating our community as effectively and safely as possible. Please feel free to contact (for faculty and staff) or (for students) regarding this matter.

Thank you for your time, please be safe.

Dear Campus Community,

I hope you all are well. Though I am sure you will not need it, I wish each of you good luck for this week’s final exams!

As we approach the end of this semester with students preparing and completing final exams, Capitol Tech’s faculty and staff are finalizing the framework for the summer semester. We are pleased to report that the first summer courses will begin as scheduled on May 4th online via Zoom. We are also excited to share our first online video celebration for graduating students which will take place on May 2nd. We know this celebration does not replace an in-person commencement ceremony, so we are working to identify new dates to congratulate Capitol Tech’s soon-to-be alumni in the traditional fashion.
